The Trammel is not a new tool it dates back some considerable time, and the concept has possibly been around since the invention of string.
However… trammel bars that we have come to know are limited to drawing or scribing only and are elevated on posts. This is fine when working a heavy material like wood that does not move but marking and cutting card of leather is not so easy.
Being a marking tool only, cutting had to be done free hand.
Nigel developed the concept of a flat bar that removes to posts, this made the bar far more stable and introduced slits into the bar, this allows for both marking and cutting without the need to re-setting the tool.
The Trammel Bar is a tool designed for template makers allowing the application of marking and cutting without re-setting the tool.
The bar comes in three parts and can be used singularly to produce curves from a radius of 100mm up to 600mm, the second bar extends this to 1100mm and the third to 1600mm.
these measurements are set at 10mm increments but are adjustable by 5mm.
